  • Training

You'll want to get the most out of your experience in this Walk, whether as a walker or crew member. Training is essential for all participants in order to avoid the possibility of injury. For the walkers, a large part of the training is learning what works for you. For the crew members, you will need to train for the particular duties of the team you signed up for or are assigned to.

    Walkers

Walkers are expected to maintain a 20-minute mile. By training regularly, you will become conditioned to maintain a pace that is comfortable for you.

Walkers will be assigned to a Walk Leader. The Walk Leader will provide you with a training schedule and will coordinate training walks and provide you with training tips.

Once you have registered as a walker, you will receive communications by way of e-mail and/or regular mail with information regarding your Walk Leader and training schedule.

    Crew

Crew will be required to train for particular duties to support the walkers and will be needed for the duration of the walk event. Two half-day crew training sessions will be scheduled for September. You will be required to participate in at least one of these sessions to be briefed on your responsibilities. Once you have registered for crew, you will receive communications by way of e-mail and/or regular mail with information regarding the training sessions.
