Welcome New TBBCF Executive Director and Board of Director Officers
    April 2009

The Terri Brodeur Breast Cancer Foundation is pleased to welcome Lynda McCrea as TBBCF Executive Director. Lynda is a Waterford native who returned to the Mystic area several years ago with her husband and two sons. For the past three years she has been the executive director of Mystic Area Shelter and Hospitality (MASH), a non-profit that provides housing and other assistance to local needy families. As Executive Director, Lynda will serve as an officer on the TBBCF board of directors and joins newly appointed Vice President John LaMattina and Secretary Shawna Constantine. A Woman of Grace
By Maggie Downie, Reprinted from Grace Magazine, The Day, March 18, 2009
People are often surprised to discover that Sandy Maniscalco never had cancer. She's often asked if she's a breast cancer survivor. If not, some wonder, why on earth does she devote so much time to help find a cure?

Her response is simple: It needs to get done and she can do it.

It wasn't what she imagined for her retirement. She originally planned a life of leisure, one where she would travel with her husband, Phil. But when a close friend was diagnosed with breast cancer and began her battle for life, Maniscalco battled beside her. And when that friend died, Maniscalco's passion for fitness and inspiring others drove her to continue the battle by working to find a cure for breast cancer - a disease that affects one in eight women.

Congratulations to the 2008 Research Grant Recipients
    February 2009
We'd like to applaud the fundraising accomplishments of the community surrounding the Terri Brodeur Breast Cancer Foundation. This past year in 2008, TBBCF raised $400,000 allowing the foundation to extend four $100,000 research grants to four promising individuals; Shannon T. Bailey, Ph.D. from Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, Carl Uli Bialucha, Ph.D. from Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory, Ozgur Kutuk, M.D., Ph.D. from Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and Qing Zhang, Ph.D. from Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. To date, TBBCF has directed $1.1 million to 11 breast cancer researchers. Thank you to our friends and supporters for funding research to find a cure.
