Register Today for the October 2, 2010 TBBCF Walk Across SECT !!!
Invite a new walker in 2010!
This year is the 5th annual TBBCF Walk Across SECT. EVERY dollar donated goes to find a cure, and we have exceeded $1.4M so far!
Please invite a new walker this year! Walk in support for someone you know! Maybe there’s a . . .
- Neighbor who has cancer and others in the neighborhood can show support.
- Church member who has cancer and the church youth group can show support.
- Co-worker who has cancer and colleagues can show support.
- School leader who has cancer and students can show support.
This is a wonderful way to train for a cause and make a difference.
Take an Extra Step to Cure Cancer!
Can you take an extra step to cure cancer this year? Here are some ways to give a little extra to find a cure . . .
- Double your steps! If you are doing the TBBCF quarter marathon, consider the half marathon. If you are doing the half marathon, consider the full marathon. You’ll need extra training miles, but the extra effort can lead to a healthier you and a bigger contribution to find a cure.
- Train with a buddy! Ask a friend to sign up for the TBBCF Walk and train with them. You are doubling the steps when a new person joins, and it’s a great way to spend time with friends.
- Pitch the Idea! We all want to be fit and healthy. Training walks are a great way to achieve a fitness goal AND the Oct 2nd Walk is a wonderful personal achievement. So suggest the TBBCF Walk to others – it can help them and help to find a cure!

An Update from the Scientific Advisory Board
by John LaMattina
Everyone has been profoundly impacted in some way by breast cancer. Be it a friend, relative, partner or spouse, this disease causes much sorrow and loss. TBBCF is dedicated to supporting research to find a cure for breast cancer and, thanks to hundreds of walkers, volunteers and sponsors, over $1.4 million has been raised to facilitate such important new research. Specifically, TBBCF seeks to fund young researchers in the Northeast who are carrying out groundbreaking science into the causes of breast cancer, its proliferation and methods to treat existing disease. Meet the New 27th Mile Club Inductees
Going the Extra Mile
by Sandy Maniscalco
In the spring of 2009, we introduced the 27th Mile Club featuring TBBCF supporters who have gone the extra mile giving 100% of themselves so that TBBCF can continue to give 100% of fundraising to breast cancer research. They raise the bar for the rest of us. In this issue, we are pleased to announce the 2010 inductees to the 27th Mile Club. They are corporate sponsor Pfizer, and TBBCF volunteers Phil Maniscalco, Ellen Swercewski, Pat Newborg and Lisa Carroll. There’s a real commonality among this group. More
A Special Thanks to Our 2009 Supporters
by Lynda McCrea
So many TBBCF supporters play a critical role in helping to achieve the goals of TBBCF. Sponsors provide financial support to cover administrative costs and event expenses. Individuals and organizations donate goods and services to off-set expenses and generate cash donations. Many groups host special promotions or fundraising events and direct proceeds to TBBCF. Thousands of individuals contribute funds directly to TBBCF or sponsor the fundraising efforts of Walk Across Southeastern CT participants. Hundreds of followers volunteer on walk day and a core group of Foundation Leaders dedicate much time to TBBCF all year long. More
